Regulatory compliance for chemical, cosmetic and biocidal products.
Training benefits
(Quantitative) structure–activity relationships [(Q)SARs] allow the prediction of properties of chemicals without testing, and therefore have positive benefits of cost, timing, and animal welfare. SAR is of growing regulatory importance in the control of chemical and cosmetic products. This one-day training is designed to give participants an understanding of:
the regulatory acceptability of SAR
uses of SAR in product evaluation, as part as an holistic safety approach
the benefits and drivers for using SAR
the different types of SAR: structural alerts, read-across of data, and computational and knowledge-based systems
validation of SAR
SAR for physico-chemical, toxicological and ecotoxicological properties
practical, hands-on experience of using SAR to predict the properties of substances
sources of information for regulatory SAR
General
Who should attend?
The training is aimed at anyone involved in the supply of chemical products, in hazard communication, or in safety or regulatory functions, with an interest in developing skills for the hazard identification of chemicals.
Practicalities
Training is offered to groups of ca. 8 to 14, involving presentations and practical exercises. Participant contribution and group discussion is encouraged to ensure individual expectations are met as far as possible within the group format. The course is offered at a public venue or at company offices. Courses run from approximately 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.
The day cost per delegate is currently ca. £240 (plus VAT), paid in advance. Variation in the programme (eg extending the time, or tailoring of the content) can be accommodated for in-house presentations, subject to mutual agreement. Alchemy Compliance reserves the right to cancel training in cases of low participant numbers, ill health of the presenter, or unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, Alchemy Compliance will inform participants as early as possible, and will refund all fees.
Requirements of attendees
Participants will need to feel comfortable with technical discussions involving legal text, chemistry, toxicology and ecotoxicology.
Alchemy Compliance will provide all other training material and documentation.
