Regulatory compliance for chemical, cosmetic and biocidal products.
Training benefits
Safety data sheets (SDSs) are the mainstay of hazard communication down the supply chain. This one-day training is designed to give participant an understanding of:
the legislation and guidance relating to SDSs, particularly the EU Safety Data Sheet Directive and the UK Approved Code of Practice
the use and purposes of SDSs in occupational safety
the sixteen-heading format for SDSs, and an outline of information requirements
sources of information, including inventories, databases, literature and structure–activity relationships
information flow and internal consistency within the SDS
practical, hands-on experience of using the rules to write critical sections of the SDS
an overview of forthcoming changes in SDSs through REACH
General
Who should attend?
The training is aimed at anyone involved in the supply of chemical products, in hazard communication, or in safety or regulatory functions with an interest in how safety data sheets are authored.
Practicalities
Training is offered to groups of ca. 8 to 14, involving presentations and practical exercises. Participant contribution and group discussion is encouraged to ensure individual expectations are met as far as possible within the group format. The course is offered at a public venue or at company offices. Courses run from approximately 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.
The day cost per delegate is currently ca. £240 (plus VAT), paid in advance. Variation in the programme (eg extending the time, or tailoring of the content) can be accommodated for in-house presentations, subject to mutual agreement. Alchemy Compliance reserves the right to cancel training in cases of low participant numbers, ill health of the presenter, or unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, Alchemy Compliance will inform participants as early as possible, and will refund all fees.
Requirements of attendees
Participants will need to feel comfortable with moderately technical discussions involving legal text, chemistry, toxicology and ecotoxicology. Note this training will not cover classification of chemical products in detail; due to the complexity of the topic it is covered in a separate training day.
Participant will require copies of the EU SDS Directive (2001/58/EC), or the UK Approved Code of Practice on the Compilation of Safety Data Sheets. Alchemy Compliance can supply these documents at an extra cost.
Alchemy Compliance will provide all other training material and documentation.
