Regulatory compliance for chemical, cosmetic and biocidal products.
Training benefits
GHS is the globally harmonised system for classification and labelling of chemical products for supply. As the name implies, it is a global system, and an understanding of GHS will aid the marketing of chemicals to a global market. The GHS is also set to transform the classification system in the EU. This one-day training is designed to give participants an understanding of:
the United Nations guidance document on the GHS
the major elements of the GHS classification: the pictograms, signal words, and hazard statements
the classification of substances according to physico-chemical, toxicological and ecotoxicological properties
principles of classification of preparations according to the calculation method
practical, hands-on experience of using the rules to classify substances and preparations
the implementation of the GHS worldwide
the specific implementation of the GHS in the EU
General
Who should attend?
The training is aimed at anyone involved in the supply of chemical products, in hazard communication, or in safety or regulatory functions, with an interest in developing classification skills.
Practicalities
Training is offered to groups of ca. 8 to 14, involving presentations and practical exercises. Participant contribution and group discussion is encouraged to ensure individual expectations are met as far as possible within the group format. The course is offered at a public venue or at company offices. Courses run from approximately 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.
The day cost per delegate is currently ca. £240 (plus VAT), paid in advance. Variation in the programme (eg extending the time, or tailoring of the content) can be accommodated for in-house presentations, subject to mutual agreement. Alchemy Compliance reserves the right to cancel training in cases of low participant numbers, ill health of the presenter, or unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, Alchemy Compliance will inform participants as early as possible, and will refund all fees.
Requirements of attendees
Participants will need to feel comfortable with moderately technical discussions involving legal text, chemistry, toxicology and ecotoxicology.
Participants will require copies of the Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals, available as a free download from the UNECE website (see links page). Alchemy Compliance can supply these documents at an extra cost.
Alchemy Compliance will provide all other training material and documentation.
